What is FEFCO 0801?

FEFCO 0801 is a standard board construction. A slotted-style body wrap whose four walls are not all the same height: one breadth wall stands the full case height, the two length walls rake down in a straight line to a low front lip, and the other breadth wall is cut to that same low lip with a second panel hinged above it that climbs back most of the way. The dump-bin silhouette — tall at the back, scooped low at the front — from a single blank with a gusseted floor.

Recommended board grades

Folding boxboard or solid bleached board, typically 250–450 microns. Heavier board for larger cartons, lighter where the carton is filled by machine.

At a glance

Measured against the FEFCO p106 plate with scripts/plate-diff.py. MATCH at 0.962 (cut 0.962/1.000, crease 1.000/1.000, silhouette 0.968), up from 0.869, and the fit now settles at W=225 D=150 against the plate's own measured L:W:D of 1 : 0.751 : 0.500 — an independent check that the proportions are read right. The fault was the floor row being built as a mirror of itself when the plate translates it: sideB's gusset was on the endA corner instead of the endB corner, and the breadth flaps were symmetric trapezoids instead of 45-degree relief on one side only. Two details are still not drawn, both inside the front flap where the last 33 unmatched cells are: the plate creases that flap TWICE, at 0.691 and 0.721 of the blank, so the front carries a shallow fold-over return we build as a single hinge; and each length flap's gusset crease stops just short of the corner at a small V cut into it. Not promoted to verified until those two are built.
