FEFCO 0509 Box Template Generator

End sleeve over a butt-seam liner. A glued end sleeve sliding over a five-panel liner whose two half-panels butt together in the middle of a face. The sleeve is what holds the liner closed, so the liner needs no glue at all.

What is FEFCO 0509?

FEFCO 0509 is made from more than one piece, with an inner tray or frame sliding inside an outer sleeve. A glued end sleeve sliding over a five-panel liner whose two half-panels butt together in the middle of a face. The sleeve is what holds the liner closed, so the liner needs no glue at all.

Uses

Protecting or separating goods inside a larger case
Jobs where the depth or the fit has to be adjusted after packing
High-volume packing lines, since a pre-glued blank erects in one movement

Advantages

Arrives glued and flat, and erects quickly by hand or by machine
The two parts can be made from different boards, or printed differently
Cut from offcuts or lighter board than the outer case, so it adds little cost

Disadvantages

Needs 2 separate pieces, so there is more than one tool and more than one part to handle
The glued joint sets the minimum order — short runs are rarely economical

Recommended board grades

Single wall E or B flute, or solid board for the smaller sizes. Both pieces are usually the same board so the slide fit stays predictable.
