FEFCO 0310 Box Template Generator

Telescope box, glued corners. A plain glued body sleeve with a shallow tray capping each end. The caps are open at the corners — a square ear at each one, hinged to the side wall and slit free of the end wall — so nothing is glued but the sleeve's own seam and the whole set ships flat.

Not yet plate-checked. This template folds, closes and exports cleanly, but its blank has not yet been matched against the standard's own drawing in detail. Treat it as a starting point and check it before you spend anything.

What is FEFCO 0310?

FEFCO 0310 is built from two or more pieces, most often a separate lid over a body, so the depth can vary with what is packed. A plain glued body sleeve with a shallow tray capping each end. The caps are open at the corners — a square ear at each one, hinged to the side wall and slit free of the end wall — so nothing is glued but the sleeve's own seam and the whole set ships flat.

Recommended board grades

Single wall B or C flute is usual. The lid and body are often the same board; a heavier body under a lighter lid is worth considering where only the body carries the stack.

Measured against the FEFCO p35 plate with scripts/plate-diff.py. The page draws two pieces: a body strip of glue lap 6.8, then L 92.0, W 46.1, L 92.0, W 46.1 on a wall 45.8 deep with no flaps anywhere on it; and a cap 121.4 x 98.4 whose base is 93.7 x 71.0 inside four 13.8-deep walls, with a corner square at each corner hinged to the SIDE wall on the base line (crease y=0.456 running out to x 0.011..0.037) and slit free of the end wall by a 2.0-wide slit at x 0.045..0.052. Scored piece by piece against that plate the cap reaches 0.987 and the body 1.000, cut and crease 1.0 both ways on each. THE JOINT SCORE CANNOT FOLLOW THEM, and 0.500 is the ceiling: the plate's own two pieces are drawn at proportions no single box has. Its body strip puts L:W at 0.325:0.163, exactly 2:1, while its cap base is 93.7:71.0, or 1.32:1 — the same 1.32 the 0312 and 0313 caps on that page are drawn at, so the cap artwork is shared down the page and the body strip is not. Fitting W to the cap leaves two of the body's four panel creases outside tolerance (0.309 and 0.793 against the plate's 0.349 and 0.837), which is crease 0.5 exactly; fitting W to the body instead drops the whole code to 0.28. Do not chase this number: it was 0.535 while the cap was drawn with two walls instead of four, and the drawing was worse.
