FEFCO 0314 Box Template Generator
Body sleeve with locking tray lid and base. The three-piece body-and-caps construction: a plain glued sleeve with a shallow tray capping each end. The cap corners are held by tabs that lock into slits cut in the cap walls, so nothing needs glue and the whole set ships flat.
Not yet plate-checked. This template folds, closes and exports cleanly, but its blank has not yet been matched against the standard's own drawing in detail. Treat it as a starting point and check it before you spend anything.
What is FEFCO 0314?
FEFCO 0314 is built from two or more pieces, most often a separate lid over a body, so the depth can vary with what is packed. The three-piece body-and-caps construction: a plain glued sleeve with a shallow tray capping each end. The cap corners are held by tabs that lock into slits cut in the cap walls, so nothing needs glue and the whole set ships flat.
Uses
- Transit and e-commerce packing, where the box is handled by a carrier
- Jobs where the depth or the fit has to be adjusted after packing
- High-volume packing lines, since a pre-glued blank erects in one movement
Advantages
- Arrives glued and flat, and erects quickly by hand or by machine
- The two parts can be made from different boards, or printed differently
Disadvantages
- Needs 3 separate pieces, so there is more than one tool and more than one part to handle
- The glued joint sets the minimum order — short runs are rarely economical
Typical industries
- Export and freight
Recommended board grades
Single wall B or C flute is usual. The lid and body are often the same board; a heavier body under a lighter lid is worth considering where only the body carries the stack.
