FEFCO 0314 Box Template Generator
Body sleeve with locking tray lid and base. The three-piece body-and-caps construction: a plain glued sleeve with a shallow tray capping each end. Each cap doubles its two side walls back on themselves, and the returned ply carries two tabs a side that drop through slots cut in the cap floor — so the caps lock square with no glue and the whole set ships flat.
Checked against the plate. This blank has been compared side by side with the drawing in the FEFCO Code, 12th Edition, and matches. That is a statement about the drawing, not a guarantee — always cut and fold a sample before committing to a die.
What is FEFCO 0314?
FEFCO 0314 is built from two or more pieces, most often a separate lid over a body, so the depth can vary with what is packed.
Uses
- Transit and e-commerce packing, where the box is handled by a carrier
- Jobs where the depth or the fit has to be adjusted after packing
- High-volume packing lines, since a pre-glued blank erects in one movement
Advantages
- Arrives glued and flat, and erects quickly by hand or by machine
- The two parts can be made from different boards, or printed differently
Disadvantages
- Needs 3 separate pieces, so there is more than one tool and more than one part to handle
- The glued joint sets the minimum order — short runs are rarely economical
Typical industries
- Export and freight
Recommended board grades
Single wall B or C flute is usual. The lid and body are often the same board; a heavier body under a lighter lid is worth considering where only the body carries the stack.

Measured against the FEFCO p36 plate with scripts/plate-diff.py. Body: glue lap 5.9, then panels 78.7 / 59.5 / 79.6 / 59.4 on a wall 39.8 deep, no flaps. Cap: base 86.1 x 61.2, end walls 11.4 single, side walls doubled as 11.9 wall / 2.3 band / 11.3 return, a corner ear at each corner hinged to the END wall on the x=0.093 crease and slit free of the side wall at y=0.457, reaching 1.66 wall depths rather than the full width of the doubled wall; and two locking tabs a side standing 0.85 proud of the return, with 2.5-wide slots cut through the base at x 0.093..0.102 on the same centres. MATCH at 0.947 (cut 0.949/0.990, crease 1.000/0.947). Not promoted to verified: the construction is shared with 0330, whose caps carry the same banded return and lock.
