What is Edge lock skillet?

Edge lock skillet is a folding carton with a glued side seam, closing at each end with a tuck, a lock or a glued flap. Four square glued flaps closing the top over a sealed base. The flaps meet edge to edge across the whole end rather than tucking in, so the closure reopens cleanly and will not spring open in transit.

Uses

Transit and e-commerce packing, where the box is handled by a carrier
Retail and gift packaging, where the box is seen by the customer
High-volume packing lines, since a pre-glued blank erects in one movement

Advantages

Cut from a single blank, so there is one tool and one part to stock
Arrives glued and flat, and erects quickly by hand or by machine

Disadvantages

The glued joint sets the minimum order — short runs are rarely economical

The top is the book's "10" skillet band as its plates draw it, but no published plate pairs that band with the tapered seal-end base drawn here, so the combination is offered as a trade style and not as a numbered one. The short bare line this template used to draw on the wall as an "edge lock" appears on no plate and has been removed.
