What is Edge lock skillet?

Edge lock skillet is a folding carton with a glued side seam, closing at each end with a tuck, a lock or a glued flap. A skillet whose flap locks into a slit cut in the wall rather than tucking in. Reopens cleanly and will not spring open in transit.

Uses

Transit and e-commerce packing, where the box is handled by a carrier
Retail and gift packaging, where the box is seen by the customer

Advantages

Cut from a single blank, so there is one tool and one part to stock
Locks closed without glue or tape, which saves a consumable and a step

Disadvantages

Hand-locking takes longer per box than a taped or glued closure

Folding boxboard or solid bleached board, typically 250–450 microns. Heavier board for larger cartons, lighter where the carton is filled by machine.
