Uses
- Protecting or separating goods inside a larger case
- High-volume packing lines, since a pre-glued blank erects in one movement
Advantages
- Cut from a single blank, so there is one tool and one part to stock
- Arrives glued and flat, and erects quickly by hand or by machine
- Cut from offcuts or lighter board than the outer case, so it adds little cost
Disadvantages
- The glued joint sets the minimum order — short runs are rarely economical

Folding boxboard or solid bleached board, typically 250–450 microns. Heavier board for larger cartons, lighter where the carton is filled by machine.

Measured against the p.68 plate with scripts/plate-diff.py: score 1.000, MATCH, cut 1.000 found / 1.000 extra, crease 1.000 / 1.000. A tapered glue lap 3.41 wide and seven panels of 18.15 over a body 34.04 tall, and nothing else on the page. WHAT THE PLATE DOES NOT SAY: with all seven panels equal, A and B are the same width here and their ORDER cannot be read off this blank. The order used is taken from F10.13 on the same page, whose flap layout is only symmetric for partition-A, backL-B, endL-A, frontL-B, frontR-B, endR-A, backR-B — see the note at the head of this file. This first measured 0.894 against a reference that still carried its own A and B dimension arrows in the cut channel; the drawing did not change.
