Octagonal tray with folded-back walls Box Template Generator

Octagonal tray with folded-back walls. A shallow octagonal tray whose long sides fold back on themselves twice, giving a doubled wall with a hem, while the ends and the four chamfers fold once and hem. Tabs on the second panel of each long side lock the folded wall down.

Checked against the plate. This blank has been compared side by side with the drawing in the FEFCO Code, 12th Edition, and matches. That is a statement about the drawing, not a guarantee — always cut and fold a sample before committing to a die.

Measured against the p.74 plate with scripts/plate-diff.py: score 0.967, MATCH, cut 1.000 found / 1.000 extra, crease 1.000 / 1.000; the 0.967 is the silhouette profile, which is what the verdict is taken on once the creases fit. 130.50 = A + 8 x 8.51 and 96.46 = B + 4 x 8.51 with A = B = 62.42, so every panel on the sheet is 8.51 deep, four to each long side and two to each end. Each panel over-runs the edge it hangs off by 1.135 at both ends, including the corner walls (outer edge 14.31 against a 12.04 chamfer). The lock tabs are CREASED off the second panel of each long side, not merely cut out of it; building them as part of that panel cost 0.03 of crease agreement. WHAT THE PLATE DOES NOT SAY: the chamfer measures 8.51, the same as the wall depth, and this drawing cannot separate the two.
