Side tuck, open base is a folding carton with a glued side seam, closing at each end with a tuck, a lock or a glued flap. Closes with a side tuck at one end and stays open at the other. Drops over a product on a base.

Uses

General packing where a simple, economical board box is wanted

Advantages

Cut from a single blank, so there is one tool and one part to stock
Locks closed without glue or tape, which saves a consumable and a step

Disadvantages

Hand-locking takes longer per box than a taped or glued closure

Folding boxboard or solid bleached board, typically 250–450 microns. Heavier board for larger cartons, lighter where the carton is filled by machine.
