What is Side tuck carton?

Side tuck carton is a folding carton with a glued side seam, closing at each end with a tuck, a lock or a glued flap. The tuck folds from a side panel rather than the front or back, so the opening is on the narrow face and the two big faces stay completely clear for print.

Uses

Retail and gift packaging, where the box is seen by the customer

Advantages

Cut from a single blank, so there is one tool and one part to stock
Locks closed without glue or tape, which saves a consumable and a step

Disadvantages

Hand-locking takes longer per box than a taped or glued closure

Recommended board grades

Folding boxboard or solid bleached board, typically 250–450 microns. Heavier board for larger cartons, lighter where the carton is filled by machine.
