What is FEFCO 0717?

FEFCO 0717 is delivered glued and flat, and erected by pushing them open — the base forms itself or locks with one movement. A crash-lock carrier: both long walls run on upward into tall panels with a hand hole in each, the wall between them is slit into diagonal fins that fold in as partitions, and a fifth panel folds across to double the handle. Filled on a line and carried away by the customer.

Uses

• Retail and gift packaging, where the box is seen by the customer
• Protecting or separating goods inside a larger case
• High-volume packing lines, since a pre-glued blank erects in one movement

Advantages

• Cut from a single blank, so there is one tool and one part to stock
• Arrives glued and flat, and erects quickly by hand or by machine
• Cut from offcuts or lighter board than the outer case, so it adds little cost

Disadvantages

• The glued joint sets the minimum order — short runs are rarely economical

Single wall B or E flute. The glued joints want a board that takes adhesive well; heavily coated liners can be a problem.
