FEFCO 0201 Box Template Generator
Regular Slotted Container (RSC). All four flaps are half the breadth, so the outer pair meet exactly at the centre and no board is wasted. The default shipping box, and by some distance the most-made corrugated case in the world.
Checked against the plate. This blank has been compared side by side with the drawing in the FEFCO Code, 12th Edition, and matches. That is a statement about the drawing, not a guarantee — always cut and fold a sample before committing to a die.
What is FEFCO 0201?
FEFCO 0201 is cut from one piece, glued or stitched along a single manufacturer’s joint, and shipped flat. Flaps fold in at both ends to close it. All four flaps are half the breadth, so the outer pair meet exactly at the centre and no board is wasted. The default shipping box, and by some distance the most-made corrugated case in the world.
Uses
- Transit and e-commerce packing, where the box is handled by a carrier
Advantages
- Cut from a single blank, so there is one tool and one part to stock
- The most widely made board box there is, so it is quick to source and cheap per unit
Disadvantages
- The flaps meet but do not overlap, so the ends are the weakest part of the box
Typical industries
- E-commerce and mail order
Recommended board grades
Single wall B or C flute for most shipping. Double wall BC or EB where the load is heavy, the box is large, or it will be stacked several high in a warehouse.

Badged, and the ambiguity that held it back is resolved by measurement rather than waived. Scored against p18 it reads 0.994, and the trouble was never the drawing — every stroke agrees in both directions — but that a fit solving for proportions could not say WHICH plate it had matched. scripts/settle-shared.py rules out fourteen of the fifteen siblings outright, every one below the 0.90 bar: 0205 0.886, 0204 0.660, 0216 0.611, 0233 0.601, 0220 0.572, 0206 0.523, 0212 0.517, 0215 0.501, 0210 0.500, 0211 0.472, 0233.1 0.447, 0218 0.273, 0203 0.266, 0209 0.209. Only 0202 survived, at 0.994. THE FIFTEENTH IS RULED OUT BY FLAP DEPTH AGAINST PANEL WIDTH, which is the detail FEFCO uses to separate this family and the one grant-badges.py names as needing a person. The fitter cannot use it because it rescales x and y independently, and flap depth runs across one axis while panel width runs across the other. Measured in each plate's OWN units: p18 draws 0201 with a 29.76 flap on a 58.04 panel, a ratio of 0.513, and 0202 with 32.56 on 57.47, a ratio of 0.567 — its outer flaps overlap where these meet. Our blank draws 0.500 by construction, which is 0.013 from 0201 and 0.067 from 0202: five times closer to the plate it claims. Every rival is therefore excluded, which is the actual bar — not that the score was high.
