What is FEFCO 0226?

FEFCO 0226 is cut from one piece, glued or stitched along a single manufacturer’s joint, and shipped flat. Flaps fold in at both ends to close it. No slots anywhere: every flap stays joined to its neighbours and a pair of 45° web creases over each end flap folds the corner away as the case closes. Seals dust-tight along every seam without going to a full overlap.

Uses

• Transit and e-commerce packing, where the box is handled by a carrier

Advantages

• Cut from a single blank, so there is one tool and one part to stock
• The most widely made board box there is, so it is quick to source and cheap per unit

Disadvantages

• The flaps meet but do not overlap, so the ends are the weakest part of the box

Recommended board grades

Single wall B or C flute for most shipping. Double wall BC or EB where the load is heavy, the box is large, or it will be stacked several high in a warehouse.
