FEFCO 0222 Box Template Generator

The long top flaps are creased across their middle: the inner half folds flat over the opening with a slit down its centreline, and the outer half stands up as one leaf of a handle, chamfered at the shoulders and punched with a hand hole so the two leaves make one grip. The end flaps reach half the length and are split in two, each half tipped with a small creased tab that comes up through the slit. Hand-locked 1-2-3 bottom underneath, so nothing is taped.

What is FEFCO 0222?

Uses

General packing where a simple, economical board box is wanted

Advantages

Cut from a single blank, so there is one tool and one part to stock
Locks closed without glue or tape, which saves a consumable and a step
The most widely made board box there is, so it is quick to source and cheap per unit

Disadvantages

The flaps meet but do not overlap, so the ends are the weakest part of the box
Hand-locking takes longer per box than a taped or glued closure
