Slotted container with inner lining flaps. The end flaps are half the length, so they meet on the centreline and close the case on their own. The long flaps are an inner wall instead: a narrow rim folds in flat, then a taller band folds vertically down inside, standing off the outer wall by the rim. Both ends line the case, so together they double the full height.

What is FEFCO 0229?

FEFCO 0229 is cut from one piece, glued or stitched along a single manufacturer’s joint, and shipped flat. Flaps fold in at both ends to close it. Advantages

Cut from a single blank, so there is one tool and one part to stock
The most widely made board box there is, so it is quick to source and cheap per unit
Cut from offcuts or lighter board than the outer case, so it adds little cost

Disadvantages

The flaps meet but do not overlap, so the ends are the weakest part of the box
