FEFCO 0220 Box Template Generator

Self-locking container, locked top and bottom. The hand-locked "1-2-3" closure of 0216 at both ends instead of one. Every flap runs to the same depth: one long flap takes a slot in its free edge, the two end flaps are cut away on the side that tucks under, and the opposite long flap tapers to a tab that drops through the slot. Closes top and bottom without tape or glue.

What is FEFCO 0220?

FEFCO 0220 is cut from one piece, glued or stitched along a single manufacturer’s joint, and shipped flat. Flaps fold in at both ends to close it. Uses

High-volume packing lines, since a pre-glued blank erects in one movement

Advantages

Cut from a single blank, so there is one tool and one part to stock
Arrives glued and flat, and erects quickly by hand or by machine
The most widely made board box there is, so it is quick to source and cheap per unit

Disadvantages

The glued joint sets the minimum order — short runs are rarely economical
The flaps meet but do not overlap, so the ends are the weakest part of the box
