FEFCO 0233 Box Template Generator

Slotted container with locking gabled flaps. A plain flap closes the bottom on all four panels. On top, the breadth-panel flaps are plain rectangles reaching a shared peak depth; the length-panel flaps are gabled instead, stepping in at each shoulder to a narrower flat top on a gusseting diagonal crease, and one of the two carries a shallow slot across the base of that flat top which the other locks into on the centreline.

What is FEFCO 0233?

FEFCO 0233 is cut from one piece, glued or stitched along a single manufacturer’s joint, and shipped flat. Flaps fold in at both ends to close it. A plain flap closes the bottom on all four panels. Uses

General packing where a simple, economical board box is wanted

Advantages

Cut from a single blank, so there is one tool and one part to stock
Locks closed without glue or tape, which saves a consumable and a step
The most widely made board box there is, so it is quick to source and cheap per unit

Disadvantages

The flaps meet but do not overlap, so the ends are the weakest part of the box
Hand-locking takes longer per box than a taped or glued closure

Single wall B or C flute for most shipping. Double wall BC or EB where the load is heavy, the box is large, or it will be stacked several high in a warehouse.
