What is FEFCO 0208?

FEFCO 0208 is cut from one piece, glued or stitched along a single manufacturer’s joint, and shipped flat. Flaps fold in at both ends to close it. Half-breadth flaps top and bottom, each carrying a lip at its free edge that turns down inside the case. The lip stiffens the closure and hides the cut flap edge, and the breadth-panel flaps are split down the centre so each half can be folded on its own.

Uses

• Transit and e-commerce packing, where the box is handled by a carrier

Advantages

• Cut from a single blank, so there is one tool and one part to stock
• The most widely made board box there is, so it is quick to source and cheap per unit

Disadvantages

• The flaps meet but do not overlap, so the ends are the weakest part of the box

Recommended board grades

Single wall B or C flute for most shipping. Double wall BC or EB where the load is heavy, the box is large, or it will be stacked several high in a warehouse.
