What is FEFCO 0209?
FEFCO 0209 is cut from one piece, glued or stitched along a single manufacturer’s joint, and shipped flat. Flaps fold in at both ends to close it. Full half-breadth flaps on the bottom, but the top flaps are cut back to a short rim that stiffens the opening without closing it. Used for open display cases and for lines that get a separate lid.
Uses
- Transit and e-commerce packing, where the box is handled by a carrier
- Retail and gift packaging, where the box is seen by the customer
Advantages
- Cut from a single blank, so there is one tool and one part to stock
- The most widely made board box there is, so it is quick to source and cheap per unit
Disadvantages
- The flaps meet but do not overlap, so the ends are the weakest part of the box

Single wall B or C flute for most shipping. Double wall BC or EB where the load is heavy, the box is large, or it will be stacked several high in a warehouse.
