FEFCO 0459 Box Template Generator
Octagonal-base glued tray. The base has all four corners chamfered at 45 degrees, so the finished tray is an eight-sided dish. The two long walls flare out at 45 degrees at each end and are glued down over the overhanging ends of the short walls, which is what closes the chamfered corner.
Not yet plate-checked. This template folds, closes and exports cleanly, but its blank has not yet been matched against the standard's own drawing in detail. Treat it as a starting point and check it before you spend anything.
What is FEFCO 0459?
FEFCO 0459 is cut and creased from a single blank that folds up around the product, usually without a glued joint. The base has all four corners chamfered at 45 degrees, so the finished tray is an eight-sided dish. The two long walls flare out at 45 degrees at each end and are glued down over the overhanging ends of the short walls, which is what closes the chamfered corner.
Uses
- Retail and gift packaging, where the box is seen by the customer
- High-volume packing lines, since a pre-glued blank erects in one movement
Advantages
- Cut from a single blank, so there is one tool and one part to stock
- Arrives glued and flat, and erects quickly by hand or by machine
Disadvantages
- The glued joint sets the minimum order — short runs are rarely economical

Single wall B or E flute. E flute where the outside will be printed, since the finer flute takes a cleaner print and creases more sharply.
